Trending Tablescape: Gratitude in the Details

16th Nov
2017

If we are being honest – hosting Thanksgiving can be stressful. There are traditions to uphold, a perfect menu to be prepared and on top of everything else, a house to be cleaned (and three kids + two dogs does not make that an easy task). So, in the midst of frantic preparation and trying to make the stuffing exactly like grandma’s, the true meaning of the holiday can get lost.

That is why we are bringing THANKS back into focus for November’s featured tablescape and providing three ways you can simplify your table while not skimping, make your guests feel honored without much fuss and create a table full of gratitude.

PERSONALIZE

Skip the basic table and bring in personal elements special to your family. This can be as simple as a place card with your guest’s name, your family initial or a menu card showing who brought what (because Aunt Karen deserves credit for those sweet potatoes)! Our extra elegant place cards by Sarah Ann Designs fit perfectly for our table, but if you don’t have time to enlist your favorite calligrapher – get your kids involved by having them create your paper products!

PREPARE

It does not take being a planner to know last minute preparation takes most of the joy of putting together your event. START NOW – even if it means eating dinner on the couch for the next few days. Secure your event rentals, bring out your best china or head to 316DS to upgrade your tabletop (everything pictured is available in store!) asap. The more you can have washed and placed on the table ahead of time, the more you will feel in control of whatever is thrown at you (hello extra guests)!

PICK

Pick one or two big wow factors and let the rest be simple. No need to bring out all the stops when you have a few elements that stand out. One of our favorite ways to do this is with a linen. We chose to go with an unexpected hue in this sage velvet linen from La Tavola. By selecting a color not in the traditional Thanksgiving color palette, it is immediately more interesting! Experiment with textures and colors unique to you and see how it transforms your table top.

Trending Tablescape: Halloween Elegance!

14th Sep
2017

When putting together our Halloween tablescape this year, we traded ghouls and goblins for a luxe take on All Hallow’s Eve and you can too.

Here are our tips for ditching the frightening and bringing in the fancy.

Combine High and Low

Incorporating a designer touch will elevate a whole table setting. We opted to mix a dinner plate by Bernardaud with rentals from 316DS.

Dinner Plate, Bernaurdaud: Set of 6 Dinner Plate $756.00 – available at 316DS

Charger, 316DS Rental: Favo Charger $5.00 each

Dinner Plate, 316DS Rental: Spirale $5.50 each

Choose a BOLD Linen

Forget traditional hues and opt for a pattern that will bring in dimension. Start with strong lines and the rest will fall into place.

Linen, BBJ Linen: Black Honeycomb

Chair, 316DS Rental: Black Queen $30.00 each

Napkin, My Drap: Ecru Premium Dinner $34.00 for 20 – available at 316DS

Vase, 316DS Rental: Large Oak $25.00 each

Just Add Floral

From simple to elaborate, flowers are a must on your table. Have floral fright? 316DS can design the perfect arrangement for any occasion.

Vase, 316DS Rental: Discover Pot $3 each

Water Glass, Mario Luca Giusti: Superstar Tumbler $21.00 each – available at 316DS

Wine Glass, 316DS Rental: Wine Goblet – $2.50 each

Candle: Mineral Water $40.00 – available at 316DS

Table Service

There is nothing more special than gathering around a beautiful table with great friends. Often times the host misses the festivities due to ‘drink duty’. Combat this with table service champagne in a beautiful ice bucket.

Frost Grey Champagne Bucket, Mario Luca Giusti: $175.00 – available at 316DS

Vase, 316DS Rental: Obsidian Forest $40.00 each

Velvet Pumpkin, Hot Skwash: 10′ Chartreuse, $65.00 – available at 316DS

One Accent Color

Sticking to one dynamic color allows your tablescape to remain clean and precise. Mixed metallics and neutrals pair well with a bright pop. 316DS opted for orange to stay true to our elegant Halloween theme.

Velvet Pumpkin, Hot Skwash: 14” Persimmon $250.00 – available at 316DS

Pitcher, Mario Luca Giusti: Federica Pitcher $68.00 – available at 316DS

Water Glass, Mario Luca Giusti: Milly Tumbler $34.00 each, available at 316DS

Flatware, 316DS Rental: Rose Gold or Matte Black $1.00 for each piece

Brighten up the Bar

The bar is a great place to bring in a party theme without losing the sophisticated elegance of your table top. Custom cocktail napkins are the perfect detail and are elevate every occasion – especially weddings!

Custom Napkin, My Drap: Skull or Vampire $34.00 for 25 – available at 316DS

Cocktail Glass, LSA International: Asher Tumbler $14.00 each – available at 316DS
